In year 12 this was an element which I struggled on as an idea for our thriller was hard for us to think of and took a lot of time to get it correct. However once we had decided on our plot, our story board and choices for location and costume etc, really got going and we worked really well as a group and made the decisions together. I feel like I was quite an organised member of the group and really tried to be responsible that we had everything we needed for filming, but also during the editing period I organised times to meet and who should do what.
In year 13 during the making of our music video 'in the sun' I felt I was also organised with times and dates for dance rehearsals and ensuring we rehearsed enough for everyone to know it effectively. This is because I was dance coach for the day so knowing timing to the music and where everyone was meant to be was important. Overall the day went smoothly and I think after the first filming of our thriller I was more confident in co-operating with others but also taking the lead at some moments.
Taking the Work more seriously
At the start of year 12 I was unaware of how much time, effort and communication was needed in order to do well in both the exam and coursework. I very much had an attitude of 'i'll do it later' or, 'it isn't that important' however as the work kept building up and more posts were due every lesson I decided I had to work hard to catch up and keep the work consistent and to a high standard as I didn't want to get into that position again with so much pressure.
Even though I finally worked hard and completed my coursework, it has taught me that I should get the posts completed as they are set otherwise they will not disappear and the work will keep building up. I hope my motivated and committed attitude will prolong throughout the year.
Commitment to working outside of lesson time
Last year I used my spare time outside of school and free periods to complete important coursework however there was time for more work to be completed therefore it has taught me that free periods in school time are great opportunities to complete homework as the facilities are there and also the teachers if any extra help is needed.
Working in group Situations
Depending on who I am working with, I do often like to speak up and put my ideas across however I sometimes don't fully listen to others and think about their idea rather than trying something different which is something I wouldn't usually think of. Therefore I think in year 13 I should be more versatile and open minded as some ideas may work better than others or as I thought.
Due to the year 13 task being a music video creation I would work better in my own choice of group however I think working with different people with different styles and ideas may be good.
Understanding what the audience wants to see
Last year we really wanted to stay away from the stereotypical locations of dark alleys and parks and characters with hoodies as we felt as an audience during research when watching previous school made thrillers it got very mundane and more imaginative ideas could be thought out.
This year, depending on the genre, I think different is always good as it will stand out to an audience and make them want to watch it again. Also a sense of music visualisation doesn't always have to be used as that can seem quite basic and a less obvious way of showing the meaning of a song could be more interesting for the viewer as its something for them to think about.
Confidence to performing to camera and using equipment
As I am a dancer and am used to performing in front of people, being in front of a camera and filming with people watching is not too daunting. I still could be more confident in a sense when i'm not dancing and just standing and singing as that can be quite awquard if someone's body language is showing they are not comfortable and natural in front of the camera.
Also I am quite confident in using a camera and tripod etc. however I could familiarise myself with what shots are used frequently in music videos to make it look professional.
